Introduction to Nutritonal and Nurturing Aspects of Food

There's a reason why we call it "comfort food," isn't there? Why eating certain foods when we're sick bring back happy childhood memories of being cared for. Why foods cooked in our cultural traditions are familiar and reassuring, their smells while cooking make us inhale deeply and smile. And why foods that are good for us make us feel better in our bodies.

At Swedish Covenant Hospital, we strive to be a role model for providing healthy and nutritious food to you and your family members, as well as our staff. But we also try to provide food that brings pleasure, comfort and familiarity to diverse cultural backgrounds as well.

Take a look at some of the ways in which we are changing the boundaries of health care nutrition.
